The company is already booking the world’s largest cruise ship, Icon of the Seas, which is scheduled to make its maiden voyage from Miami in January.

It would hold the title until at least the following summer when it would match the size of Star of the Seas.

Icon is described as a “theme park at sea” featuring six record-breaking water slides in its onboard water park, seven swimming pools and numerous other attractions that can accommodate 8,000 guests.

Details about what will be on Star of the Seas are currently being kept under wraps, but Royal Caribbean claims that “all types of vacations” will be available.

in press releaseRevealing the ship’s name, they said: “The world’s largest cruise line will follow Icon’s debut, the beginning of a new era of vacations, in the boldest way.

“With a mix of all types of vacations unique to Icon Class – from beach getaway to resort getaway to theme park adventure.

“The collection of new and beloved experiences on Star will pave the way for more ways for all types of families and adventurers to make memories without compromise.”

The ship is currently under construction in Turku, Finland and its features will be revealed in due course.

However, teaser images suggest that it could share some of the features that guests will be able to see on the Icon when it sets sail in a few months.

For the Star to compete with its sister ship, it would have to be at least 20 stories high and the best part 1,200 feet long.

Icon will also feature more than 40 dining, bar and nightlife venues that will provide food and entertainment for thousands of passengers on board.

There will also be a swim-up bar called “Swim and Tonic” while the “AquaDome” will allow guests to drink while enjoying sweeping ocean views near an indoor waterfall.

There will be eight separate neighborhoods on board across the 20 decks, including highlights such as a sunken pirate ship on the upper deck to the line’s largest ice arena elsewhere.

There will also be a “central garden” with thousands of flowers, plants and trees as well.

Available rooms include luxury rooms spanning four floors with a multi-level sundeck, a private pool, and a two-story Coastal Kitchen restaurant overlooking the all-glass AquaDome.

Families can stay in a three-storey townhouse that sleeps eight and comes with its own garden and sliders from the bedroom to the living area.

However, a week’s stay there would cost £60,000.

More affordable rooms include the Infinite Balcony rooms, which feature a retractable window, which turns the floor-to-ceiling window glass into a balcony.

There will also be Sunset Corner Suites, which will have access to spacious balconies overlooking the back of the ship.

“The idea of combining the best types of vacations into one ultimate adventure has created more excitement than ever anticipated,” said Michael Bailey, President and CEO of Royal Caribbean International.

“Star of the Seas will be the next bold answer to the record consumer demand we have seen for nearly a year and counting with Icon of the Seas.”

Meanwhile, this couple lives on a cruise ship and claims that it is cheaper than living in a house.
